XBintegrator5.5 and XBscript2.0 released

XBintegrator5.5 beta has been released marking the introduction of XBscript2.0 and XBservice libraries
Invenso has released XBintegrator5.5 beta. This new version marks the introduction of quite some changes to Invenso's flagship product.

XBscript2.0

XBintegrator5.5 comes with XBscript2.0, a revolutionary version of the XML based scripting language that is used on the platform. XBscript2.0 allows developers to extend the scripting language with new instructions. These user-made basic services can either be written in Java or in XBscript2.0.

Next to dynamic instructions, XBscript2.0 offers improved exception handling, variable scoping, improved XML handling, routine parameters and objects.

XBservice libraries

Out-of-the-box services are bundled in different thematical service libraries and deployed in a single runtime engine. This summer, Invenso will set up a portal site where partners and customers can download and upload new, specialized service libraries, services and code snippets.

Invenso currently offers four native service libraries:

  •     core service library: broad range of utility and data exchange services
  •     converter service library: services to map and convert text to XML
  •     document service library: services for document generation and data extraction from spreadsheets
  •     IBMi service library: services to call IBM i functions directly from the XBintegrator platform.

Scalability

XBintegrator is par excellence a platform that enables a project-driven, step-by-step approach to service oriented software development. Typically, the product seems to grow on the customer as it is often implemented for a small-scale project and gradually evolves to play a more important role in the customers development activities.

With XBintegrator5.5, Invenso has anchored this itinerary process into a four-flavored product offering.

  •     XBintegrator Community Edition for small-scale, non business-critical development projects
  •     XBintegrator Standard Edition for larger, non business-critical projects
  •     XBintegrator Business Edition for small or larger, business-critical projects
  •     XBintegrator Enterprise Edition for large-scale, business-critical projects

Scalability is also reflected in the pricing model. Next to the classical permanent license-yearly maintenance formula, Invenso offers a software rental formula.

In this formula the customer simply pays a yearly usage fee, that includes access to the platform and maintenance for a term of one year. By choosing the rental formula, customers can spread their software investment evenly over the years and upscale or even downscale according to their needs.
